HOW FLOAT TANKS WORK
Concentrated magnesium salt water creates a zero gravity state. The salt is continually absorbed by the skin, allowing the skin to remain smooth and supple. The ultra-deep relaxation of floating “resets” the body’s hormonal and metabolic balance, strengthening resistance to and accelerating recovery from the effects of stress, illness, injury or strenuous exercise. Endorphins are released, powerful natural pain relievers and mood enhancers that promote a sense of well-being. Deep relaxation causes your brainwaves to shift into a theta state. Theta brainwaves are a rare brain state, normally achievable by people trained extensively in meditation. Floating can be considered as a short cut to achieving the deepest state of mind, and wellbeing.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Come 10 mins early for your first appointment, and make sure you have eaten at least 30 mins prior to the session and avoid caffeine for at least 3hrs prior.
Shaving or waxing before the session should be avoided as the salt may irritate the skin.
Women who are menstruating should reschedule for when their period has ended.
It is advisable to speak to your Doctor if you have any medical conditions prior to float. You will be provided with ear plugs, a towel, a face washer, and shampoo and conditioner.
Remove all clothes (or leave swimming costume on if more comfortable) and jewellery.
Shower before entering the tank, make sure you test all your mini body cleansing bars, we love clean floaters here 🙂
Enter tank and close door lid, hook the face washer on the handle so it’s within an easy reach just in case you get the saltwater in your eyes.
Gently lie back and let the buoyancy of the water help you float, we recommend floating without a head support as it allows your body to maintain a naturally neutral position. We do have supports available, however, if you feel more comfortable with one.
Music plays for 5-10mins at the start of your session to help you relax, or continuously if you prefer.
You then drift off blissfully floating in your warm, gravity-free environment for your chosen time (30/60/90mins).
The music starts to play again for the last 5 mins of your session and at the end of your session, you will hear a voice gently telling you that your session is over. This means there is no worry about falling asleep and not realising it’s time to get out.
Falling asleep is a normal part of floating and is totally safe.
Get out of the tank slowly and carefully. Magnesium does make your skin slippery and you will be very relaxed.
Take a shower again, you need to wash the magnesium off.
Get dressed and head out to the lounge area for a beautiful herbal tea and glass of water (and to book in for your next float!)

“I have two fave combos…
My fave dry combo is Normatec leg compression boots and the massage chair. The relaxation and muscle release I get from this combo is next level.
My fave wet combo is the massage chair and the float tank. I have a very busy mind, I’ve been trying to meditate but find it really hard, floating helps me to free my mind, it’s like I’m in a little cocoon and nothing can get to me.
I also love the social aspect which is really important for me.”
